Re: A Space of Partial Illumination e7.002 out October 2022

"How Forests Think" is 1 hell of a weird track, not sure if I like it.

Re: A Space of Partial Illumination e7.002 out October 2022

First listen here. It's a good one again obviously though further listens are required. Not far from Rituals imo, same ingredients, heavy textured ambiences, IDM, with some amorphous leaning stuff on one or two tracks. Nice stuff.

Re: Rituals: e7.001 (Environment 7) out April 2022

Yeah, it's definitely a strong grower. Also it flows very nicely, even the bonus tracks add very well to the rest of the album. There is apparently a lot of synth stuff going on, but it's not so obvious like on E6 or EAV, they made it sound like there is lots of samples even if there maybe aren't. F...

Re: Rituals: e7.001 (Environment 7) out April 2022

Hm, after repeated listens I really do like it. Maybe not the incredible stand out top tier FSOL album some might have expected, but a solid, decent record, maybe a tad less 'melodic' than previous Environments, but a strong overall atmosphere, nice flow (including the bonus stuff) and generally qui...

Re: Rituals: e7.001 (Environment 7) out April 2022

It's incredible, really no promotion at all. No teaser, no video, nothing to spread on social media except link to bandcamp page with only 3 playable songs. They really try hard to remain in hiding with this kind of promotional behaviour, this is curious.

Re: Rituals: e7.001 (Environment 7) out April 2022

Ok, first listen here. Seems very much along the lines of previous stuff like 6/6.5, EAV. I had those 90ies-flashbacks also with E6&6.5 already, quite similar here. A bit more uplifting maybe. Bonus tracks fit very nicely I think.

Re: The Amorphous Androgynous - Listening Beyond the Head Chakra

Great, so Gaz is now basically shitting all over the last however many years of FSOL releases. Huh? I really don't read it this way. It's basically no different than what we knew all along the recent years, Gaz mostly involved with AA, Brian doing his stuff all the time, and they still seem connect...

Great readings as always, keep enjoying them!
There is a link missing for Environments 3 in the thread so far it seems

Re: Fractional Difference - Exploring FSOL song-by-song

EBS 5 was my favourite EBS mix for a long time along with 4 & 6 close behind. Awesome, unique atmosphere with this weird narrator, and lot of interesting unknown stuff to explore. Almost everything on there completely unheard for me. Incredibly dark and eerie in parts (that "Elegi" tra...

So wow, for 1991 this was a pretty pioneering piece of electronic music!

Brians worst nightmare is not being able to smoke a spliff? :D

Interesting to hear Lifeforms track playing in background when it was still 2 years until release.

Re: Environment Seven Trilogy

Cool, thanks, at last some (good) news. Recent releases were all very good, if 'Rituals' is at least on par with them I'm fine with it.

Re: Fractional Difference - Exploring FSOL song-by-song

Very interesting reads everything. I really wonder what Gaz & Brian are thinking of "Alice..." today. And how it compares in their view to the Isness. I personally would also view The Isness as the album I prefer from that era. "Alice..." is far from bad, I listened to it qui...

Re: Fractional Difference - Exploring FSOL song-by-song

I remember seeing this album in various music stores in 2002/03 and hesitated for quite a while buying it after I really started to get into The Isness because I thought of this to be another tedious remix collection of an old dance track:) was positively surprised when finally getting around lendin...
