xerkon - second track

New track, this one I started with 20 or 30 little clips of a guy talking and built all the "instruments" from speeding up, slowing down and layering, among other things. The only effects I used were reverb and a stretching effect. It's not too shabby, considering. https://soundcloud.com/x...

Re: Produced some tunes + mix page

Wonderful! For some weird unknown reason I kept picturing myself on a slab in an alien lab (bonus for the rhyme!) waiting to be operated on. Made me want to say, "I think I'm a bit afraid," in the best of ways. Did you sample from the track? Which version of it?

Re: My first song

Thank you so much, Concept! It could certainly use some more work but I'm pretty happy with it for a first track. Some of the rhythm parts were me on my djembe which I recorded with a Blue Yeti mic. Everything else was done on my super-duper totally rad $99 dollar Casio keyboard running through my i...

Re: What are you playing at the moment

I would love to revisit System Shock 2. A wonderfully atmospheric game. And I have such fond memories of Half-Life, the first FPS I ever played. No, wait, the second. I started with Duke Nukem. That's funny, I had forgotten about that. If anyone likes turn-based strategy, Alpha Centauri is quite goo...

Fun Rythm Game (maybe it's just me... :o )

I'm probably not the first to do this, but the other night I started tapping "Lap" on my phone in time to the beat of god-only-remembers what I was listening to and saw that it only takes a few accurate taps to know the exact bpm of the song. PLUS, you can make a game of it with your frien...

Re: Produced some tunes + mix page

Narcissist. I hadn't thought of that word in relation to Trump but it seems spot on. It could be that when Trump looks in the mirror he sees his version of God. Frightening. Speaking of plastics, I just finished Jack Herer's book the Emperor Wears No Clothes and it confirmed all of my worst thoughts...

Re: Produced some tunes + mix page

Hello, Concept! Since it is on the top of my head, (particularly in your neck of the woods with that disaster of a president), I thankfully don't think of him as "my" president because I was born and raised in Alberta, Canada and consider myself more of a Canadian than an American (we move...

Re: Produced some tunes + mix page

Nice! I think you're off to a good start! I am also working on some music, in fact my first song ever, so it's cool to listen to something from someone else who has recently "been there." How long did your first song take, once you started working on it? I can get really lost in the detail...

A Monstrous Psychadelic Good Time.

I've been listening to FSOL since '94 and they are one of my top five favorite things in life. I had a whole new experience with MBP recently that some of you might get a kick out of. It was after having recently watched some episodes of Austin City Limits and I started to imagine that everything I ...

Re: What are you listening to?

Hi Everyone! Been a fan of FSOL since '94 but haven't posted here much due to years and years of depression stealing my joy, but am feeling a bit better lately so maybe I'll be here more. That's all beside the point. My favorite album of the last 3 years is F*** Buttons - Slow Focus. It's not for ev...

Re: FSOL merch......

seedy said it best... ....a plain old "FSOL" would even make me smile! lol... I would love an FSOL T-shirt. White letters on grey, black letters on grey, whatever. There are plenty of places online that can make t-shirts. I, too, wonder....would FSOL be against it? Hell, I'd gladly send th...

Re: FSOLdigital

I just read the first post by Graham, not anything else yet, and I have to say that shipping costs are not a problem, at least for me. I feel like I owe half my life to FSOL, and the shipping straight from London over to the USA is not really much more than if I would buy it from Amazon or whatever,...
