Re: Kraftwerk

Pandemonium and 80s pop music - not a good mix. Depeche Mode are ok, although nothing after their first album did that much for me really. For the slightly weirder end of synthpop I tend to prefer OMD. Started out as a Kraftwerk-inspired experimental group who went on to do one of the most beautiful...

Re: ultra rare FSOL first uk internet broadcast

Don't have any headphones with me so I can't listen - is this going to be Essential Mix '94?

Re: Stakker - Eurotechno (the whole video)

There's one section - track 7, I think? Quite a dark sinister one - which I absolutely love. The rest of it's an absolute headfuck. Humanoid Sessions is a bit better but again the scattered feel of it all is a bit heavy going. I always wondered why there weren't more proper full-length, properly pro...

Mm, it all comes down to temperatures you're comfortable with. I very rarely complain about the cold, for example. Autumn and winter in the UK are good with me!

Re: Kraftwerk

House certainly came from disco and soul, but techno originated when that was fused with more European sounds.

Re: Stakker - Eurotechno (the whole video)

Stakker was the name of the graphics company which also graced this release.
Humanoid is Brian's solo music.

Re: DJ Food vs The Amorphous Androgynous & 2CC

It seems that one can purchase a print of the cover of this album from Factory Road Gallery, Hinckley, Leicestershire from Friday. What the fuck? This is my hometown and there's never been any remote sign of culture, and now there's a gallery doing this kind of thing. If only I hadn't just decided ...

20C = 68F
40C = 104F

And yeah, the dry heat was refreshing - I'm used to humidity here in the UK too.

Re: Kraftwerk

One of the things about the cliched 80s sounds, as you put it, is to remember that lots of them are from the 70s, so they were very much ahead of their time. I quite like the production, to be honest, I stopped thinking of music as being dated long ago (I like a lot of 80s stuff too, so...). Trans-E...

Re: will fsol/aa/Gary & Brian ever play in the United States

I probably complained about the weather. I have a very low temperature threshold (anything over 20C and I start suffering - it was 40 in the shade at Coachella, so not ideal).

Re: The Orb - C Batter C

I found Metallic Spheres grew off me, I enjoyed it a lot at first but over time got incredibly bored of it. The only album since Orblivion I ever actually listen to is Baghdad Batteries.

Re: The Isness due for re-release?

Chavanvah is the usual misspelling I see, probably because of the unusual 'w' in the font. Anyway, I found a copy of the newly re-released Isness & Otherness in HMV yesterday. In a jewel case, with very slightly updated artwork (different font, and the twiney trim around the outside of the cover...

Re: will fsol/aa/Gary & Brian ever play in the United States

I went to Coachella in 2004 because they were meant to be playing... sadly the festival 'confirmed' it before the band had properly decided and obviously it never happened...
Beck was good, though.
