Re: Another X-series From Dougans & Cobain

According to Brian all the albums documented in the Peppermint Tree booklet exist - if/when they'll be released is another matter.

Re: Another X-series From Dougans & Cobain

Coma Chameleon - that opening vocal sample sounds really familiar to me, something from one of the Amorphous records...? Present Sense - a bit of an Amorphous vibe but yeah, not that much like their other stuff What Goes Up - More Amorphousy stuff. I wonder if any of this came out of the sessions of...

Re: What are you listening to?

Heh, I was thinking of making a post along the lines of 'man, I haven't actually enjoyed anything Woob's done since he returned'!

Porya Hatami - The Black Woodpecker
Part of the Birds of a Feather series of mini CDrs on Flaming Pines, all of which are really wonderful. A lovely ambient series.

Re: Terminal Radio

Yeah, this is definitely one of the best so far, particularly enjoying Pandemonium's mix, adds a nice variety to the show.

Yes, it's great to see how well it's all gone, and hopefully this release should ease future label-searching.

Re: Off Land thread

Listened to this a few times now, it really is brilliant. My favourite Off Land stuff so far, some of it has such a strong emotional resonance, and the sound design is absolutely top notch. Really loving the move towards a more overtly melodic direction - the first track really reminds me of Max Ric...

Got my small t-shirts in the post today, a (slightly late) birthday present. Very nice fit they are too.

Re: What are you listening to?

I think it depends on the intent of the artist/release. A lot of tapes I buy are on the improvised, lofi end of things, and these work as sort of... documents of what was made rather than huge defining lasting statement. Different releases have different purposes.

Re: What are you listening to?

I do really dislike the way the commercial end of things seems to be heavy on long gaps these days - back in the '90s, it was almost expected that artists put out an album every year, I remember huge 'comeback' albums by Oasis and the Manics in the late '90s after they'd been away for two years . Th...
