Re: Noel Gallagher/AA album thread

That's pretty good, though as with most Amorphous remixes it really could do with about a 10min trim (so I guess I agree with the 'trad fans') as it seems to repeat itself about 3 times without much new being added. Much less messy than the last few remixes though so definitely a step in the right d...

Re: Looking to start composing my own music

For the price you really can't go wrong with a Zoom H2. It looks like it's now been replaced with H2N with a 5th mic included for surround recording - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Zoom-Handy-Recorder-Card-Wavelab/dp/B005CQ2ZY6/ref=dp_ob_title_ce" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Th...

Re: Help identifying show?

Mmm no idea, I guess it was just one of the aformentioned "six 3 hour shows for Kiss FM". Interesting that they chose a track by Leftfield (not sure of the title) at 1:05:29 that they ended up 'thieving' for Liquid Insects

Ross wrote:It'd be wonderful if the whole thing had flowed together as an album. As it is, the fractured nature doesn't really represent FSOL to me and I'd be much more inclined to recommend Lifeforms or Dead Cities to a beginner rather than the compilation.
Absolutely, worded better than I could !

Re: Teachings from the Electronic Brain on Amazon

It's the most disappointing FSOL release I've purchased. I too was fooled by the '2006 edits' and thought the album would have segues to match the quality of their previous albums, so when I got an album that had nothing new and the tracks weren't mixed together at all with the 'edits' being that th...

Re: FSOL PC collection, finally

I wouldn't want to use the discman I had back in the day for complex music like FSOL. No bass, no detail, lots of background noise... wouldn't do justice to their music. If the D/A converters in your discman gave those problems then there really was something wrong - even on my £40 discman listenin...

Re: The official HERD thread - New WIP tracks on Soundcloud

Nice, reminds me of when I experimented with saving pictures as a .raw file and importing them into a sound editor to apply audio effects to effect the picture

Re: FSOL PC collection, finally

Yeah mp3s are my listening format of choice too. My life is based mainly in two locations - In front of my PC at my flat, or out an about. So the former is sorted by my [ripped from my cd / purchased] mp3 external hard disk collection and the latter by a filled 32gb microSD card plugged into my [not...

I've got a copy Papua New Guinea from an Ibiza chill-out compilation CD, I think that's about it.

Re: Looking to start composing my own music

I wouldn't worry about that till a bit later - I was composing on £15 computer speakers for about 3 years just happily playing away and having fun. Just see what works by putting sounds together, let music theory and mixing techniques take a back seat in this period of pure experimentation and explo...

Re: What are you listening to?

Yeah they're generally (what am I saying, they're always) terrible but that's why occasionally you can get lucky with an under priced album that used to take residency on the shelves there for many a year at some ridiculous 'HMV import' price.

If you're lucky you might be able to find a cheap copy in HMV - it's where I got mine anyway !
