New tracks on Alan Dougans mix

Post by Ross »

Alan Dougans - better known as Futuresight photography, who's been providing photos for FSOL releases since Bugs disappeared, as well as half of DXU:555 from Your Body Robotic and, of course, being Brian's brother - has put together a mix for Sequenchill. The description is described as containing "Perhaps a surprise or two as well, Future Sightings of Future Sounds...", which is a thinly veiled hint at you know what.
Don't think the mix is online yet, all we have is this teaser, but I'll post a link to the mix once it's here.

Haven't listened to this new mix yet, but I wonder if Aria & Falling Upwards are related to 'Falling Upwards Aria' from Life In Moments, which clocks in at 1:17? Interesting ...

The E7 track is gorgeous... guitar, breakbeats, starts out as if it might be a more classical-leaning piece but goes into a high energy, uplifting track. Some Amorphousy strings near the end... can definitely hear Gaz's hand in this. Third track we've heard from the album and all three sound totally different to each other, which suggests it might be a very different affair to the more stylistically streamlined E6 and Environmental. The 'mix' aspect is a reworking by Alan himself for the mix, just so it isn't too much of an album spoiler. I'm assuming the original won't be too drastically different from this though.

Aria is indeed Falling Upwards Aria from Life in Moments.
Falling Upwards is the same piece played backwards.
BriHarp... this is basically an ambient version of We Persuade Ourselves We Are Immortal, interestingly. Harp and strings from the main track, Brian's swirling SX-One synths from the intro. Anamika Singh provides some spoken word.

This is downloaded directly from mixcloud, so not the best quality, but better than nothing.
