Bringing the band's busiest year to a close with a lot of Stakker Humanoid remixes.

Today on Fractional Difference, we hit 2009, a year almost completely defined by gigs and transmissions...

...FSOL goes full on hauntology...

...they then go on to confuse everyone at BLOC...
FSOL - BLOC Festival, 13/03/09

...Gaz talks to Rob Da Bank for two hours...
Gaz Cobain's A-Z of Psychedelia, BBC Radio 1, 23/03/09

...another Amorphous gig...
The Amorphous Androgynous - Kiev, 11/05/09

...and a proper FSOL gig with some great live reworkings...
FSOL - Existenz, Athens, 23/05/09

...oh, and another Amorphous gig there's no record of anywhere.
The Amorphous Androgynous - Bangers N Mash Festival, 30/05/09

I've now got past the end of Pandemonium's thread, meaning I'm on my own. Expect mix tracklists to be a lot worse from this point on!

EBS 5 was my favourite EBS mix for a long time along with 4 & 6 close behind.

Awesome, unique atmosphere with this weird narrator, and lot of interesting unknown stuff to explore. Almost everything on there completely unheard for me. Incredibly dark and eerie in parts (that "Elegi" track, wow)

All of Elegi's stuff is harrowingly bleak, one of his tracks has what sounds like a child crying chopped up throughout it.

7's my favourite EBS and possibly my favourite FSOL mix ever. But not there for a while yet.

Hello there, I'm really enjoying these write-ups. So much stuff I didn't know!

Just want to say I saw AA do another gig on 6th Sept 2009 at Electric Picnic in Ireland.
https://thumped.com/wp/wp-content/uploa ... pg?x21443n (adrogynous!)

They were due on at midnight but after much faffing started about 1am I think. It was well attended by people wandering in after other headline acts ended.
I don't remember much of the setlist and didn't record any video (I was snobbish about cameras at gigs then!). The venue 'body and soul' is sort of a natural amphitheatre and great for more intimate performances.

Apart from Gaz, the the only other musician I recognised was Alisha Sufit. I spotted the sitar player in a later band photoshoot.
They did play All is Harvest, Falling Down (sung by Alisha) and ended with We have Explosive, which got a good reaction.

Gaz commented that the Falling Down remix was the last official Oasis release before they broke up, which was just a week or 2 before.

Anyway thanks to your great work, I'm revisiting a lot of their music now! Cheers

Oh bloody hell, wow. Thanks for that. What a great first post! I think that sums up the 'not actually promoting gigs' aspect of the Amorphous live stuff better than anything else. Never heard of this before. Cheers!

Today on Fractional Difference, then...

...a gig nobody even knew happened until today...
The Amorphous Androgynous - Electric Picnic 06/09/09

...The Amorphous Androgynous support a man later convicted of physical abuse...
The Amorphous Androgynous - Kasabian Support HMV Forum (21/09/09)

...I write a surprisingly negative review of an album...

...more Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble...

The Amorphous Androgynous - A Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble Exploding in Your Mind Vol 8, The Pod Room (07/11/09)

...and even more...

Haha no problem. I'm just annoyed I didn't record any of it! Now I think I remember a rock-y version of the Witchfinder, performed by Dave Sanderson, who also sang on a few other tracks. Bits and pieces coming back to me...
