First Death in the Family (Dead Cities Reprise bit)

Post by mcbpete »

It's only just clicked on my brain, but the end of this (4:25 onwards)

is from this (2:13 onwards)

The more you know !

(though that does mean of course that the version delivered to Virgin differs from the final version that actually made it out - unless they're time travelling samplers !)

Well I be, never noticed that :)

*watches the vid again*
Brian and Gary must of really hated doing "We have Explosive", a hit squad was abit extreme of a revenge don't you think :P

I'm just imagining what kind of a fallout would've resulted if a similar stunt was repeated today - probably be a lot messier end result than the laughs in the office that this one got !

Dead Cities Reprise is said to be by Headstone Lane, right?

Yeah, though I'm thinking that's just the metal-esque "Dead Cities" loop part of it

Yes, I think it was Simon's first solo track, which is why it's basically a punk track. I would imagine some of the samples are FSOL.

I guess you guys know about this?

Weird. I always remembered that it was some very manipulated version of that.

Oh nice find, though that's apparently from way back in '81. So either the Headstone Lane track is a cover (not actually heard the full version, does it exist anywhere ?) or it's just a coincidence.

Nice find indeed :)
I've listened to (two I think) albums from The Exploited, but punk is not my thing at all...
And this is the first time I hear this Dead Cities track.
You're doin' too much, do less.

Has the full Headstone Lane track ever surfaced?

Nope, although I wouldn't be surprised if what we hear in the track is the bulk of what there is.
