Ordered double CD edition, can't wait to hear it. That preview track sounded excellent so I'm very excited about the whole thing. I'm thinking of getting the calendar too.

And in keeping with their tradition of naming conventions we have:

The Future Sound of London
Environment Six
ENVIRONMENT 6.5

THE FUTURE SOUND OF LONDON
Environment six plus

I hadn't noticed but I do find it difficult to keep all the naming differences straight. I largely gave up, haha.

Six plus / 6+ is the name on the boxset of the two CDs. I laughed when I noticed the numbering scheme on two albums released together was different. I'm sure they do it just to wind us up now.

A track called 'Hollow Earth' has been on YouTube for years, I wonder if it's any relation to 'Solid Earth' from 6.5.

There's a Solid Earth and a Hollow Earth actually Ross. It's been years since I heard the youtube one though, wasn't it on the Gigantic Burst of Anti Static video, or something from that time?

I'm well excited to hear this. It's interesting that a lot of the tracks are quite short. It makes me wonder if they're going to be really dynamic albums.

It's very dynamic. There's quite at bit of alternating between ambient and beats. A lot of the short tracks are essentially segues. A couple even act as intros or outros to some of the longer tracks on Six. It feels like mix between Dead Cities, Lifeforms, and Environments 4. There are quite a few tracks that would have been right at home of E4.

My only complaints with ESIX and E6.5: The track "Seq/-9". It's a great track but doesn't segue at all, feels out of place, and ends so abruptly that I almost feel as if I'm missing part of the track. Also "Dark Seed" sounds pretty cheesy IMO. Can't stand that bright piano. Every other track on the double album is brilliant.

I'm glad to hear that. :) I Dream In Viral Blue gave me a sort of jazzy update of Dead Cities kind of feel, which is no bad thing. I guess I'll have to see about those two tracks you mentioned.

Yeah, I was thinking about the short tracks and how on the previous Environments they've effectively just been segues - notably things like No Man's Land and Supercontinents basically just being an intro and outro to River Delta. If you apply the same to, say, Dead Cities, you get something quite similar to E6:

1. Herd Killing
2. Dead Cities
3. Poetry environment
4. Her Face Forms in Summertime
5. Twinkly environment (also on WHE Pt 2)
6. We Have Explosive
7. Pig environment
8. Breath environment / everyone vox
9. Everyone in the World is Doing Something Without Me
10. My Kingdom
11. Max
12. Antique Toy
13. Quagmire environment / he thinks he's very funny
14. Quagmire
15. In a State of Permanent Abyss
16. Glass
17. Glass / Yage environment
18. Yage
19. Vit Drowning
20. Through Your Gills I Breathe
21. First Death in the Family
22. Dead Cities Reprise

As for why they've started doing this now - it's odd, but I suppose it fits the 'environments' theme.

Ha I totally missed that. It was on one of the Tiny Point of Light videos:

The track must be ten years old now then. Crazy.

I had listen to a few of the clips on FSOLDigital, although not all, and was surprised to hear just how electronic it sounded. I suppose after 5 which was the most Amorphousy one to date I was expecting similar, but this reminded me of Electric Brain Storms material more than anything, particularly as there were quite a few field recordings.

Yeah, that's pretty much spot on I'd say. A very good way of looking at it.

On a slightly different note, I think the Environments series has been amazing overall. The quality level throughout has been exceptional.
