Solefald - World Music With Black Edges
World Metal. Kosmopolis Sud (2015)

Took some getting used to, as usual with this band, but once again they've released a fantastic album.

Today I'm listening to Jimmy Page's Soundtracks boxed set. First up is Lucifer Rising and it's companion Lucifer Rising - The Second Coming. This is kind of ambient and semi electronic, and darker than a black steer's tookus on a moonless prairie night (as the fella said).

Aye, that's what I've learned - every performance is just ... well just look !

Shame they lost their ska-like side by ditching the sax player

Ha yes, I love anything that seems completely incomprehensible like that. I wish I could write chord sequences like the one that forms the bulk of this!

Ditto, I love that wild progression - Joe's always been good at it (one of his many musical talents I'm jealous of). Apparently The Gasman was highly influenced by them and hearing his stuff now with that fact in mind it really is apparent

Ha, I can hear that.
Sadly when it comes to The Gas Man, I immediately think of this...

Whenever I watch it now I'm slightly disappointed that it doesn't burst into that track / mashup every time Richie answers the door.

hmmm...well without all of the ranting about how genius he is i would just say to make sure you've properly tasted the various eras he rode over the course of his career

ultimately there are a number of different styles that added up to who he was 8-)
