Forthcoming releases

Next Future Sound Of London album
Rumours of new FSOL material have been circulating since 2003; in 2006, talking about the 5.1 surround sound exhibition piece, "A Gigantic Globular Burst of Anti-Static", Gaz announced the duo were spending "six months working on a surround sound masterpiece". Circa 2006, a new album featured the working title, Light Beyond Sound, although the FSOL/Dianne Harris collaboration "A Tiny Point of Light" - released as a free download through FSOLDigital - is likely to be the only piece to bear that title, as it eventually ended up as the name of an Amorphous Androgynous track.
Whilst the recent Environments releases contained entirely new material, Gaz revealed they were written to be part of the evolving Environments series; the band are also recording other new material alongside forthcoming Environments sessions.

New material was performed during ISDN performances to BLOC and Athens in 2009. Electric Brain Storms 4, 6 and 7 feature as yet unreleased recordings, including "Boundaries", "49Innesp" and two untitled pieces. For the Touched Music FSOL Nights on Mixlr, the band provided a selection of unreleased tracks, some of which were given titles, including "Static Field", "Peirch", "Algae Floats the Water in Super Technicolor" and "Arc City", along with several tracks of unknown title. Whether these are new material or archived is currently unknown.

New single
Communicating with fans in 2014, Brian hinted at the possibility of a 40-minute, multi-path single, in the vein of the band's '90s EPs. No news has surfaced since.

Environments
Brian has revealed that there will be ten volumes of the Environments series. Volume 7 is due for release in the future, likely late 2019. The Artworks booklet revealed that volume 8 might be an installation somewhere. Whether 6.5 and Environmental will count towards the full ten is currently unknown.

Touched by Silence
An 11 CD boxset on the Touched charity label, rumoured to feature a full album by FSOL and a track by another FSOL-related project.

From the Archives
The Electric Brain Storms tracklists contain songs listed as Archive 6 (which did not appear on that collection), including "Kaaawa" and "Turned". Other known tracks, such as "How to be a Genuine Fake" remain unreleased, alongside transmission favourites such as "Carlos" (revealed in 2015 to be recently renamed "Santana"), while titles including "Under Pass", "Dead Dolphine 2", and "Eleven Hot Knives" appeared online in 2009. The band's 1994 and 1996 ISDN performances still contain a number of unreleased full tracks (not to mention between-track environments). Early piece "The Z Storm", not included on By Any Other Name, has been located by the band and may also be released. Several of the pair's Extreme Music series contributions have yet to see a FSOL/Amorphous release. In April 2014, Brian revealed he and Gaz had been discussing the prospect of revisiting the track recorded with Ian Astbury in the late '90s. In late 2014, Brian revealed "loads of old tapes" had been found, which "unearthed more gems." Some of these pieces featured on Electric Brain Storm 10: Micro Edition, broadcast on Terminal Radio in October 2014.
The first five Archives were released in a boxset in 2016; a future boxset is rumoured to be in the works for the next five volumes when they happen.

Lifeforms rework
In an April 2014 interview, Gaz mentioned the band had spent four or five years working on new versions of the Liz Fraser collab Lifeforms, in an attempt to reach the vision they had for the work originally, but never had the equipment to realise in the early '90s. Gaz mentioned this once again in an August 2014 interview with Future Music magazine, but more vaguely stating "we hope to release the full results." EMI have shown little interest in putting out the release, but we continue to hold out hope, but with a vinyl reissue of Lifeforms planned for 2017, it's possible that the label are finally giving the band's back catalogue the attention it deserves, and a deluxe edition of Lifeforms is still a possibility.

2" Tape Reels
Mentioned on the original version of FSOLDigital was 2" Tape Reels, which was described as 'Various sessions - demos and outakes from the 2" multitrack recordings @ RAM studio. 16 songs - 1 hr 5 mins'. The only confirmed track so far is a bizarre mix of "We Have Explosive" previewed on the band's MySpace and EBS1 mix, although it is possible the alternate mixes of Yage/Hallucination from the EBS mixes may be from this collection too. With the redesign of FSOLDigital, all mention of this record has disappeared. Brian has since confirmed that the record is still in the pipeline, but mentioned no release date.

Humanoid
After a silence of 30 years, Brian has been busy working on new Humanoid material. A considerable amount of material was recorded for the Built by Humanoid album, and many of the outtakes have been appearing on compilations. Up next are a track called 'Uling' on Secret Rave 05, and a drastic reworking of 'Stakker Humanoid' on the 8th volume of Detuned's DE:10 series of 12"s, released in October 2019.

The Amorphous Androgynous
In March 2014 it was announced that a new single entitled "Mother" would be released in the near future. This has yet to surface, but promoting the fourth Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble compilation in early 2015, Gaz mentioned that the group have around 30 songs ready to be shaped into the next album. Since then, occasional updates on his Facebook page have charted the writing and recording of the record, which will include ex-Verve guitarist Nick McCabe, and Paul Weller. A thread detailing all the specifics of the album's recording can be found in the FSOL/AA forum. Tracks they're working on include: 'Look Up to See (What's Going Down)', 'Whatever I Do, Don't', 'She Listens to the Sun', 'Mantra', 'We Persuade Ourselves We Are Immortal', 'Money to Burn', 'I Don't Give A Damn About the Man' and 'All Watched Over by Machines of Loving Grace'.
Several other AA releases have been suggested for the future. The long spoken of Amorphic Archives are due to follow the successful FSOL archive series, although may have been renamed to Amorphik Alternatives, if the Electric Brain Storm 1 tracklist is anything to go by. The booklet for The Peppermint Tree contains covers for the following releases: The New Love Poetry, Wobbly Oozescapes and 2012, promising their availability on FSOLDigital.com. What these albums contain is currently a mystery, although Brian has confirmed that all three albums represent recorded material. A remix of "The Emptiness Of Nothingness", titled "His Motherness", appeared on the band's MySpace in 2009, claiming to be from a forthcoming release called The Outerness. An interview at the 2010 Mojo awards features Gaz talking about an Amorphous 'best of' compilation called The Greatest Trips. Nothing has been heard of this since.

A Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble Exploding In Your Mind / Electric Brainstorms
Gaz revealed that all MPB remix work is undertaken under the freedom that the remixes can be used on future MPB projects, and as such, a compilation of remixes and cover versions is in the works for Monstrous Bubble Records (he also hinted the 2001 Cosmic Jukebox remixes may appear on this record).
A FSOL edition of the MPB CD series was planned to be the second in the series, but never materialised. In early 2015 Gaz revealed that a series of FSOL mix CDs entitled (unsurprisingly) Electric Brainstorms had been planned, but it seems like this is currently on hold.

Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble Soundtracks
Following the successful 'Cartel' soundtrack releases, it is possible more soundtracks may follow.

FSOL and Amorphous DVDs
Well over a decade ago, a FSOL DVD was announced on the official forum, but despite taking on board fan requests, this seems to have entered limbo whilst dealing with EMI (it is likely that if it was ever to have come out, it would have accompanied Teachings from the Electronic Brain in 2006). In the years since that was announced, an Amorphous Androgynous DVD, containing unreleased audio and video from the Isness/Alice in Ultraland sessions, and a DVD of the band's 2009 live FSOL performance in Athens have been announced, clips and extras from the latter have appeared on YouTube. Patience, it seems, is once again required in this matter. A live version of "Vertical Pig" from In 2 Minds, the Athens DVD, appeared on the FSOLDigital sampler 2 in August 2012. In the past, DVD editions of Part-Sub-Merged and Globular have been mentioned, although it is unlikely these will ever appear.

6 Oscillators In Remittance - Light Senses Dark Edges
Another of Brian's experiments, so likely to just appear as an mp3 release on FSOLDigital. A track, "Cloudscraper", was released on the site, promising the full album to be available in the future. Made by oscillators reacting to light, this material is droney ambient.

EMS : Piano - Vessels
Another project of Brian's, currently incomplete, will be out sometime in the future. Featuring the EMS Synthi and piano (unsurprisingly), the record is inspired by soundtrack work Brian's father had done. Previewed over several Electric Brain Storms mixes, the tracks "Untitled 5" and "The Vessel" currently remain unreleased, whilst three tracks appeared on an EP entitled One. The Two EP is near complete and will hopefully be out in 2015.

Yage - Pygmy People / NAM '71
The title track of this forthcoming Yage record appeared on the second FSOLDigital mix in August 2012, preceeded by more unreleased material on Electric Brain Storms 7 earlier in the year.

Polemical
Unreleased tracks from this alias appeared on Electric Brain Storms 7. It is possible we may get further releases in the future - not to mention any unknown aliases of Mr. Dougans.

The Pod Room
The Pod Room looks to be moving to MixCloud in the coming months, hopefully filling gaps in the process. The 12th volume of the Electric Brain Storm series is due for radio broadcast later in 2019.

FSOLDigital
The aforementioned film soundtrack of Mr. Dougans Senior is to be released on FSOLDigital in the future under the name Clyde Port Authority. A new record by Seafar entitled Totem was due for release on 12/12/12 (to match previous release dates of 11/11/11 and 08/08/08) - however the record has yet to appear. Instead, an EP has been announced for release in 2014. The debut album from Russian duo Broadcast of Variants is due for release in 2014 at some point. Other future releases rumoured include a record by Park and a further release by Herd. The mysterious The Trees from EBS7 was also labelled as FSOLDigital. Of the artists featured on August 2012's The Fears and Fantasies of the Unconscious Mind FSOLDigital sampler, three names are currently a mystery, and may be alias or friends of the band: their presence on the mix, however, suggests The Superheads are set to release Service for Seekers, The Field Recorders Kaptured and The Bringers One Foul Swoop on FSOLDigital in the future. EBS8 featured tracks by the artist C. P. A. labelled as FSOLdigital.

Shh
The band were asked to score a forthcoming Brit horror flick Shh. The directive was for more dance-based material, and the group asked Will Propz to help out. However, the film has become stuck in development hell and looks unlikely to surface any time soon.

Monsterism Island Soundtrack
Working with friend Pete Fowler, Brian and Gaz have worked to soundtrack his cartoon series Monsterism Island, although this does appear to have disappeared from the TV radar. Who knows...

Production work
The Amorphous Androgynous have also recorded with Paul Weller, producing potential tracks for a future album - one of which was released in 2015. Gaz has talked of much more material, in hope of some of it surfacing in the future.

Remixes
The band continue to take on remix work, with a Humanoid remix of Karsten Pflum due on Touched Revolutions in September 2019.

I have a theory about why there are Environments instead of new albums... but it will have to wait as my library time is almost run out.

I don't think they're busy enough. Surely they can squeeze in a couple more releases... ;)

Oh, the last update on the Noel Gallagher stuff was that back in April he was learning the songs he did with the AA on guitar.

http://stopcryingyourheartoutnews.blogs ... ts-on.html

"The musician said "I’ve still got all those songs I did with Amorphous Androgynous but the moment has gone now with that. Because it was written and recorded in the studio in a rather psychedelic manner I’m currently in the process of trying to work out how to play the fucking things on the guitar. ""

Apparently he's recording a new album now so that could be a red herring, unless he's going to re-record them with Dave Sardy.

As for Brian and Gaz, noone could accuse them of being workshy...

It's pretty bad to be complaining, given how much material they've put out in the last six years, but I do wish it was structured better. Say an album very 9 or 12 months rather than lumping them all together.

I had this fantasy (er, that sounds worse than it is) that they'd gone through all their archive tracks, filtered out the ones which were on transmissions/remixes of exisiting tracks/really early 90s sounding ones, and then pieced them together with new material and just put out a new album every year. Imagine getting a new record each year with tracks like Plazmatik and Water Hole.
Anyway.

My theory (perhaps hypothesis should be better, as it hasn't been tested), is that Environments 5 might be the last Environments album. They're obviously holding off doing a 'proper' new record (if only by name), and at the album-every-two-years rate that seems to be the case with Environments 2/3/4/5, that means the one after 5 will be in 2016 - twenty years after Dead Cities. What better time to bring out the first 'official' new FSOL album?

Fuck, writing that makes me feel old.
