'Mutant Funkoid' is believed to be Philip Pinn.

Alice in Ultraland started with further work on some music from The Isness sessions, although newer material was recorded in the three year gap. The album features a heavier reference to funk, blues and folk influences, discarding much of the playfulness heard on The Isness. The album was also recorded with a core band on most tracks, as opposed to the 100+ musicians on the previous record, giving it a less electronic, more live jam-based feel. Despite this, many tracks merge together with short sample and synth soundscapes, in a callback to the FSOL style of the 1990s. The band got EMI to resurrect the legendary Harvest imprint, famed for releasing psychedelic classics by Pink Floyd and Syd Barrett in the late '60s and early '70s, to release the record.
