Notes:
The first full-length release from "FSOL's engineer" Yage, The Woodlands Of Old is described on FSOLDigital.com as "from the deserts of the middle east to the rain forests of Brazil - odd rhythms erriee melodies." There is definitely a more ethnic feel to it than normal from the group, and it plays out a little like the darker, more percussive elements of ISDN at times, but with a much looser feel. Here, the drums sound live, with hushed jazz rhythms and syncopated beats, alongside a selection of eerie FSOL sounds and synths. The album appeared seemingly out of the blue in 2008 online, with a CD release later in the year. The record originally began as Brian's experiments with ex-Propellerheads member Will White, who contributes drums to a number of tracks here.
