What are you listening to?
Re: What are you listening to?
Things is, I really like some of the stuff he mentions like Washed Out or Neon Indian...

The actual track at the end of the video made me lol very hard.
I would love to see the first "Ocean Grunge" album to get a 9+ review on pitchfork soon

Re: What are you listening to?
sandoz which i heard of via some of the FSOL mixes
having a hard time finding all the tracks but basically i'm doing a chrono review of sandoz and kirk at the same time
i'm curious to see where the kirk titled albums will go considering the free form of these first two
not really my cup of tea but i can handle a one time listen lol
sandoz from the limited stuff i'm finding sounds pretty cool to me
anyone?

Haven't heard them all - but Sandoz alias should be more focused in sound - while R H Kirk has styles all over the map...

Don't really know this artists and think he mainly does drum and bass but this track reminds me a lot of Dead Cities era stuff.

New Chems! Not amazing but a much much better first single than the past few albums.

Re: What are you listening to?
I liked a few tracks on Come With Us. That's about as contemporary as my interest in the Chemical Brothers gets sadly!
Re: What are you listening to?
I agree, Come With Us was the last Chemical Brothers album that is an enjoyable album.
Push the Button has a couple good tracks (plus Surface to Air which is one of my favorite Chems tracks ever) but is pretty weak as an album and suffers from too many collaborations. We Are the Night is a little better but also suffers from too many collaborations. The instrumentals on that album are great however. Further was OK but felt really rushed and sloppy in places.
The new album only has three collab tracks so I'm cautiously optimistic.

Re: What are you listening to?
I lost interest after Dig Your Own Hole..
But seriously, they're an INCREDIBLE live, the tracks function on a whole different level when the throw their show which is an absolute spectacle! Tracks like "Horse Power" and "Believe" combined with the light show are SO hypnotic, it's a whole different ballgame on a home system. It's impossible to stay put, you feel like a robot.. they're legends. Seems like a lot of their stuff is now made for live situations. Man I'd love to see them again..
OTT, been listening to a lot of Swans lately, didn't remember how crazy some of their stuff is.. also some Tipsy, Melvins and other random stuff.

- for those who won't get a chance to see them live - try to dig out the "The Chemical Brothers - Don't Think (Live at Fuji Rock Festival 2012)" video -- it's a perfectly directed concert with multiple cameras that catch the LIVE feeling - well, as much as possible...
