What are you listening to?
Re: What are you listening to?
4 is my second favourite behind 2. 3 is still my least favourite, just can't get my head around that record.

My current Environments ranking:
1. 5
2. 4,2
3. 3,1
Env 3 works well at night or short after sunset, I recently recognized Just like ISDN.
now playing: Cavern Of Anti-Matter - void beats / invocation trex
Former Stereolab-man Tim Gane recorded this beautiful album of 70ies-space-kraut-psych-electro-beats-whatever. Amazing stuff. I recall a strong orb-like "space-is-the-place"-feel from this, especially from the 12-min opener "Tardis Cymbals", there´s also reminiscence of the early Emperor Machine stuff with loads of ancient analog synth-gear going providing the retrofuturistic robot dance.

Re: What are you listening to?
As far as the Enviroments series goes. I find it very hard to choose between the 1, 2, 3 or 5. I love those records. I think 4 just doesn't hold my attention, it feels a bit devoid of interesting landmarks.
Currently listening to The Orb - A Huge Ever Growing Pulsating Brain That Rules From The Centre Of The Ultraworld, not sure which version. It's nice hearing it done slightly differently to the album version.

Re: What are you listening to?
can i get another rec for The Shamen that sounds like "Arbor Bona Arbor Mala"??
i went to the next album that youtube recommended but it was too house sounding/early 90s etc.
i just want more lush ambient goodness if they in fact have more to offer

Re: What are you listening to?
Hm, what about the one they did right after? "Hempton Manor" from 96' is completely instrumental. Haven't heard it for ages, but I remember finding it to be quite good back in the day. Has a strong Orbital-In-Sides-era vibe, but was not very succesful with fans and press for some reason. Check it out.

Re: What are you listening to?
elseq 1-5 (since release though I've only got to elseq 3.1). fuckin' clusterbomb of digital excellence blasted into my ears.
Re: What are you listening to?
Downloaded it yesterday, listening through the whole bunch once.
Favourites so far 1 & 4 & 5. Not so sure about those 20+ min tracks either, a bit too much aimlessly meandering especially in 'elyc6 0nset', but maybe should take further listens.
But there´s plenty stuff on par there with Exai, so for me this is definitely like a new 'album'. Interesting questions would be if they will release their stuff in this form from now on, or what the background to this release is. On watmm they say elseq stands for 'edited live sequences', that would make sense.

Re: What are you listening to?
Yeah, the material's definitely taken from their live sets, which is probably why it's been released like this. I've just listened to it all as one rather than five individual sections so far.
