Forthcoming mix on Rave Atlas

Post by Ross »

F.S.O.L EXCLUSIVE MIX ALERT
26/12/2019 AVAILABLE THROUGH ALL RAVE ATLAS SOCIAL MEDIA.
We are thrilled to announce that The Future Sound Of London contributed an exclusive mix for the Rave Atlas Mix Series.
Out on Boxing Day.
Keep an eye on the Rave Atlas social media brothers & sisters

FSOL were the first band to sidestep traditional methods of touring, instead broadcasting studio performances via ISDN lines.
The ISDN l.p, containing material previously broadcast live to radio stations via ISDN, was released as a limited edition (with a black cover) in late 1994, followed by a more widespread edition (this time with a white cover and an altered track list) in 1995.

00:53 Axiom - L'esprit du Bonzai
03:58 Locust - Faw
06:32 Brothomstates - Jak Got Stuck in Canada and This Sounds Like
09:29 The Future Sound of London - Old Metal Gates (short piece based on what sounds like field recordings of old metal gates)
10:37 Tactile - ??
13:28 The Future Sound of London - People of Yage (Humanoid Rebuild)
16:51 user48736353001 (Aphex Twin) - 14 07 B
20:40 Lyrus - Love Ly (Antonymes Lunar Exploration Remix)
25:06 Beaumont Hannant - Anokhi
27:24 New Moon At Red Deer Wallow - Rain Tree Crow
29:36 Plaid - Ralome
34:17 Junior Homrich and Brian Gascoigne - Inside The Dam / The Waterfall / The Burning Forest
34:17 Tuu - Fetish
36:00 Beaumont Hannant - The Hunted
40:16 Boards Of Canada - Alpha and Omega
43:04 Brian Slawson - Distant Drums
46:08 The Future Sound of London - Captured (environment with drones, drums, murmured speaking)
48:06 The Future Sound of London - Dependant (glitchy electronics, sounds like recent Environments & Humanoid era)
49:58 GESCOM - Key Nell 1
53:49 Reload - The Biosphere (Global Communication Remix)
56:28 Bandulu - Day Four
1:01:25 ?? (labelled white label - early-to-mid '90s ambient-housey IDM piece - lots of 1994-era samples laid on top, could be an Archived piece?)
1:04:35 ?? (unlisted - environments with speaking, claps, whooshes)
1:06:01 Ross 154 - Rememberance
1:09:18 The Black Dog - Cost I
1:10:06 The Black Dog - The Crete That Crete Made
1:13:30 Peter Gabriel - At Night
1:14:48 Drome - Hinterland, Kassler Kessel
1:18:01 Hydraulic - ??
1:22:50 The Future Sound of London - Riverbed
1:26:11 Synthi A - Wave Length
1:28:53 The Future Sound of London - Black Waters (gorgeous textured ambient piece)

All the 'untitled' (and 'promo' on the site) stuff I'm guessing is how Rave Atlas have interpreted the tracklist - past EBS's have often just featured the artist without the title. For example, the Global Communication track is actually Reload - The Biosphere (Global Communication Remix). I'm assuming the four 'white label' tracks are a similar interpretation of, say, '???' or 'unknown' or just gaps in the tracklist. These could easily be unreleased EBV projects, or just environments, or tracks Brian forgot the title of when he was sending over the tracklist. It remains to be seen.
That still gives us at least four new FSOL tracks - Old Metal Gates, Captured, Dependant and Black Waters, which will become more clear once a more detailed tracklist.

Black Waters is absolutely gorgeous. Textured ambient piece.

I'll be filling this tracklist in as people come across the tracks.

Nice of iTunes to not obfuscate the file location in any way ! Here's the download link for those that want it (as Trigga Bo mentions it's in 128kbps):

https://media.whooshkaa.com/show/5774/e ... 539213.mp3

p.s. Only a third of the way through this so far but ..... my word - what an incredible mix :o So many excellent tracks I've not heard before or tracks not heard for a very long time, perfect to do office admin to :D

This one is driving me nuts - Not because I know the track, but the high pitched whistle sound totally reminds me of another early 90s FSOL track and I just can't find it - Was thinking Cascade or Lifeforms but .... agh I know that sound - I can hear the melody it plays in my brain too

Just now got around to this fantastic mix.
1:10:06 ?? (labelled white label - some '70s krautrocky hauntology thing, warm, lots of tape hiss, some THX1138 voice samples - wonderful!)
This is The Black Dog - "The Crete That Crete Made"

Haha. I've never properly got into them, much as I enjoy the stuff I have heard, so that might explain missing it...
