The Cartel

Post by dell1972 »

It never rains but pours...

Gaz has put up a few clips of this on his Youtube channel a few minutes ago... Sounds almost exactly like I imagined it to be!

First in a series eh? There's a tracklist of the new album on there with some very long titles. Didn't see any release date though.

His description on the second one:

tracks the WASP/ the BUG /BANKSTERS and REGRETS & LAST RESPECTS from the album CARTEL Vol 1 the first release in a new series ' MONSTROUS BUBBLE SOUNDTRACKS produced and performed by the Amorphous Androgynous. It's a parallel series to the MONSTROUS PSYCHEDELIC BUBBLE DJ series but AA write and produce all the music in this series ( rather than DJ like MPB )exploring sub genres of MPB. The Cartel explores ' psychsploitation' where blaxploitation meets psych -
a psychsploitation soundtrack for bank robberies , car/ cop chase/ heists, gunrunners , counter-surveillance, killing sprees and regret . . . .

the album is available on cd / download from fsoldigital.com

Edit. Oh wait, he's not finished yet...

Edit. And more:

Talk about information overload. Four EPs yesterday and now there's details of two new albums. Sounds great as well to these ears.

Oh wait, there's another clip appeared.

One obvious thing missing on these clips is vocals. Is this to be an instrumental thing? It sounds good enough without it, and sounds like they're having fun exploring/creating new (sub)genres.

Just listened to the clips, produced and performed by the Amorphous Androgynous!!! Im absolutely stunned, Garry and Brian are geniuses, end of story!! But wait, there seems to be no end in this, but a continuous exploration of the sound.

Also, I dont know if Im crazy but I can hear a slight dose of FSOL in this music, now I think I understand more why Environments sound like Environments, because it seems and its pretty obvious now that The Future Sound Of London and Amorphous Androgynous are communicating vessels, constantly borrowing elements from each other. Does this rise up a question "So after Environments what???". The guys must have found a secret of musical life, keeping things interesting for themselves, having their music alive and going even further on such a high quality level after 25 years, a lifetime . . . incredible...

Not quite - the series is called Monstrous Bubble Soundtracks, the first two volumes are The Cartel. Future ones may be other types of 'soundtrack' - not sure what. Maybe a folksy Wickerman type affair?

Quite enjoying these clips, they've definitely got the sound spot on.

Damn, this is so good, reeeeeally looking forward to that. Those soundclips just stirred my brain heavily. The whole thing seems to be quite varied in sound and style, with a fat, lush production. Now I feel the strong urge to grow me a moustache and wear 70ies-porno-movie-sunglasses! :)

So is there a release date already known?
