Hooray for the vinyl! Just hope it gets here by Thursday as I am off on holiday for two weeks from Friday....don't want it to be left sitting outside by the postman, plus I need it for the drive there (the rip not the vinyl, I don't have a record player in my car..... )

As mentioned on the last page, I did a special radio show recapping my favourite parts of the Environments albums (plus a couple of extras from the post-Virgin era) to promote the new album. Nothing you guys won't have heard before, but if you're curious here's the Soundcloud link: https://soundcloud.com/jackmoss/absorb-150914

LP arrived today! Just put it on the turntable now...

Sounds great, especially given that it's not a heavyweight pressing. A little disappointed the inner sleeve is plain though, would like to have seen the inner artwork from the CD version on there. Still hoping for a scan of that soon!

edit: bizarrely, there's a different running order on the LP - Somatosensory starts side 2 here.

Moments of Isolation is my favorite track, getting a Pink Floyd vibe from it.
play this backwards and you'll hear evil messages

One LP? All this time I thought there would be two! Oh well, doesn't matter.

Given that it's only 53 minutes, I'm glad it's only a single LP - swapping sides three times in that time can really ruin the flow of an album.

Gaz reports 'quite good odds' on the previous Environments volumes appearing on LP...

QFT, on account that I actually did this with Aphex Twin's "Digeridoo" halfway into the song or so, a couple of years ago. I think I changed it after getting two or three calls

One of those things where you think it's a pretty sweet idea, but massively backfires when doing it. I still love the tune though :D

Some thoughts on E5:

I'm pretty sure now this is simply the best thing they did since the isness. It has all the psychedelic amorphousy influences incorporated so naturally as if it never was any different like E4, it's as varied style&sound-wise as E3, and despite that it flows as well as E2. And finally it's HUGELY emotional, *euphoric sadness* all the way through, thatswhy maybe it reminds me in a way of the isness, which I find myself putting on after every E5-listen. It kind of touches emotionally in a similar way I think.

My copy arrived last Friday and I haven't been able to stop listening to it since. Absolutely sublime. Easily the best Environment(s!) album. This is like nothing else out there. Usually you think with a new album one should hold off eulogising about it for a few months because the newness factor biases a view. But this goes beyond. So many ideas, layers and sounds, topped off by some great melodies. I keep waking in the morning with the different tunes in my head and have to put it on.

My favourite tracks are:
In solitude we are least alone
Dying while be held
Somatosensory

Wow! I was very excited before this came out, but it is beyond my expectations. Thank you FSOL
