Ah, the first TD album I ever bought, so I'll always have a certain fondness for it. What do you think of it Mr. Baker?

I gave Mala Kunia a spin today again, then it's on to a bit of what I call "Dick's Big Dump" by Mr. Twin.

I find some of it surprisingly out of time for them, quite an early Schmoelling era sound (particularly on the Love On a Real Train-esque track.) It's certainly refreshingly TD-esque compared to the poppy sound of the studio albums either side of it.

God, I haven't gone back to the Soundcloud dump since it first happened, it's just all too impenetrable. I sorted it into four lists or preference (from those I love to those I don't like) and the 'A' list alone is over 30 tracks, the 'B' around the same. Too many songs. If only it'd come last autumn when I was in proper AFX-fanboy mode! Ah well, it's there for another day...

This evening I've been listening a bunch of R.E.M. tracks and some works in progress from what'll probably be the third International Debris album. One track complete entitled 'Tengo & Aomame'

R.E.M.? One of the best & Respect Rock n Roll bands, if you talk about that band Ross, i´m still loving his first 80´s era & keeping their Vinyls, they help me on my teenage grown so much :)

The very same R.E.M. Some really beautiful songs in their discography, back from their first EP right up to the end. Always enjoy a band who know how to write a richly melodic song.

It would be easy to overlook Miracle Mile as it came out slap bang in the middle of the melrose years but it does sound so much more like the early 80s stuff. The fact i bought it in the first place was a fluke, taking a punt on it as i stumbled on it in a record shop in Ilkley as a teenager.

The aphex dump is pretty impenetrable, i split it into five groups to break it up (without any sorting) but keep failing to get to the end of the first block of 35.

Yeah, most of the sequences have a much looser feel that the rest of the Cubase-programmed Melrose era.

np Autechre EPs 1991 - 2002. Just finished the Basscadet remixes. Miss the Beaumant Hannant remix, might have to get the separate EP.

Casino Vs. Japan

It's always nice to discover some overlooked gems of classic boc/SAW-era AFX/early ae-style IDM-stuff, I remember reading that name here and there on the internet, I even downloaded the 'Whole numbers..." album a few years ago without even listening it (dont know why really), but this stuff is really good. Hazy rhythms and melodies, droney ambiences, perfect for listening in hot summertimes, I'm sure.

IMO his best stuff was when he still went under the name 'Chris Clark', the latter stuff seems to have lost some of his finesse.
