Very interesting reads everything. I really wonder what Gaz & Brian are thinking of "Alice..." today. And how it compares in their view to the Isness. I personally would also view The Isness as the album I prefer from that era. "Alice..." is far from bad, I listened to it quite extensively when it came out back in 2005, but I too find myself not to return to it very often in the last years.
What about the MPB broadcasts that turned into MPB 5 & 6 from pod room? Weren't they also from 2005 as part of a promotional campaign?
Ah yeah, the XFM shows, I have three different dates for them so am going to do them next once I've gone back and found exactly when they were broadcast.
Good news for Amorphousophobes, that's about it for a long time now. There are a handful of mixes and releases spread out over the next 16 years, but they're very much in the minority. Back to electronics once more...
Interesting your ears hear the opener Lizzard Crawl as being Dead Cities era, I'd always heard it as an culled track from the Lifeforms era - Think these are the tracks it reminds me of ... I think ... possibly another track around that era that I'm not remembering ... god my memory is bum
Oh it’s definitely got a Lifeforms vibe, it’s only the technical aspects - that slap bass sound, the samplers being full of complex beats rather than loads of squelching sounds - that suggest Dead Cities. I think that’s the reason great tracks like this and Distant Memories weren’t released at the time as they sound so different to the albums of that era.
Three oft-overlooked albums from the launch of FSOLDigital. Difficult to do track-by-tracks for these as many either follow a formula or are very abstract.
A handful of fairly inconsequential releases, followed by an important entry to the From the Archives series. All track-by-tracks linked from entry pages.
