Re: stakker humanoid guardian article
Just saw this! Awesome write-up. That TOTP video still cracks me up, and especially the Hitman & Her footage. How cool though... Happy 25 Humanoid!!

This says a lot... I wouldn't call this anything else but underground.Dougans wrote:The disconnect, between Dougans's growing fame and his living arrangements, was not lost on him. "I remember afterwards," he explains. "We went up to the cafe, had a quick drink and then we were off home – which was back to the squat, which of course had no lights, no electricity. I was thinking, 'My God, I've just done Top of the Pops and I'm living in a squat? What the fuck?'"
I don't care how mainstream they say Stakker Humanoid is...

Surely the most we've heard out of Brian for decades, if not ever?
Nice to see the grauniad tipping their hat to fsol.

Great article and well done to the Guardian for squeezing some comment out of Brian! I think there's at least one interview on Ross' site that has an actual interview with Brian as well as Gaz, the one that talked about them going cycling together etc. after Gaz came back from his round the world dental trip.
I guess the other thing that struck me is how they're still very underground now, barring the occasional flirtation with Noel Gallagher. Things like this and the Mojo acceptance speech come across as a rare sighting of a band that likes to stay undercover. Gaz hasn't really said anything publicly since that speech for example, and a lot of people are totally unaware they're still producing material. I was reading a public Q&A thing of Kris Weston a while back for his kickstarter thing and someone actually asked him if he knew whether they were still alive! He didn't reply.

There are a few interviews with Brian - a nice old one from the '80s about their Manchester dealings, a couple of lines on early '90s ones, a couple around the time of The Isness, one recent one entirely with him, and this incredibly revealing one with Mixmag in 1996.
