Just give me ISDN Part 2, and I will die happy.

Actually ISDN (Part 1) is on my player every day these last weeks, cant help humming to the melody on Eyes Pop - Skin Explodes - Everybody Dead @1:00, one of the most emotional and my personal favorite FSOL melodies.

Re: Environments 5 coming soon...
my favourite part of isdn(on the black version anyway) is 'an end of sorts' so much going on in it and to me brings the whole album to a decent end
Re: Environments 5 coming soon...
one question ive always had on isdn(which has probably been answered on here before)on 'just a fucking idiot' the sample at the start saying'could you leave the lights alone, stop flashing your fucking lights' i'd heard that it was barney sumner from new order, well it sounds like him to me..Is this true?
Re: Environments 5 coming soon...
It has been discussed. Popular opinion states it is Barney though at a Joy Division gig at the Preston Warehouse. There is a live album of it, but it's edited and doesn't include that line. Judging by what is on the album there was likely a lot of between song catastrophies. I think they must have taken it from a bootleg of the whole performance, which I tried and failed to acquire a few years back. It was a gig that went a bit wrong, there's plenty of other very sample-able bits from the gig too, like at the height of the sound problems Ian Curtis in a rare address to the punters in the pub saying "I'd like to apologise for everything". Oh and someone announcing the last bus for Blackburn is leaving, or something like that in a very strong Lancs accent. Despite the sound issues it's actually a fantastic album, especially hearing them just keep on playing despite everything failing around them.
There's extended samples about the lights of course on the New York and VPRO Netherlands ISDN transmission in the Pod Room, from which the bulk of the album is taken.

Not sure if fsoldigital is being updated with new content (i.e. E5) or if it's just fallen over the moment they go on holiday, but I'm sure "Error establishing a database connection" is not the desired welcoming message...

Cool sample, can't wait to hear the full album.
Yeah, An End Of Sorts is absolutely fantastic, too bad it's not on the white reissue.darktrain wrote:my favourite part of isdn(on the black version anyway) is 'an end of sorts' so much going on in it and to me brings the whole album to a decent end

Smack in the middle of AFX day, FSOL counterattacks! This is absolutely gorgeous.

According to my limited resources, there are two samples online. I am, typically, at my girlfriend's sister's wedding so I'll be listening later.

Alex beat me to it, but if Ross asks I must abide
Sample 1 - Source of Uncertainty
Sample 2 - In Solitude We are Least Alone
In Solitude We are Least Alone - this one sounds like yet another example of AA meets FSOL (in style) - also, I would guess some of those videos have something to do with Alan's recent travels to India

Re: Environments 5 coming soon...
I'm avoiding listening to any of the samples because I've had more than a few eagerly anticipated albums spoiled by preconceptions of what I want it to sound like. Often when I've come back to those albums years later and the expectation has washed away I find myself enjoying them for what they are, rather than what I wanted them to be.
So with that said, please tell me there's a release date and that it's imminent!
