2019's album is definitely my favourite of the three, by some stretch. With the exception of the Smart Systems track, which is obviously very much of its time, I'd say the rest feels like a consistent album in its own right. The overall sound is a nice mix of the E6-esque electronica with a few more organic sounds and samples that make it feel a touch more 'classic' FSOL, and the melodic aspects are gorgeous. This is the first of the calendar albums that, for me, will challenge some of the 'main' albums in terms of my favourites, could easily be a top-10 FSOL record for me.

Ross, that's kinda weird - I was literally just coming on here to post that I think the Calendar albums seem to get a bit over-looked and then I see that you've just posted glowing praise of the latest one :)

I was also going to say that I think the 2019 album would rank highly amongst other FSOL releases. I don't have a problem with the Smart Systems track either - although I agree it is somewhat "of its time", I think Cellular Glitch and the Humanoid track do kind of lead into it quite nicely.

Overall the album, to me, feels like a mix of ISDN and E6, maybe with a touch of Dead Cities for good measure :)

Welcome to a new decade. The first track of 2020 is from The Future Sound Of London and is called "Mind Function Wave". Written this month, fresh out of the studio oven and onto your plate

I’m out of the country until Thursday but this is something to look forward to on my return...

Edit: I received Retracing from last year instead of Mind Function Wave :/ Hopefully the actually track is under my account...

Update: I was able to get Mind Function Wave from my account downloads page on FSOLDigital. Really great track! Love hearing the most future of sounds from FSOL. :D ;)

Oceans of Plastic has a real Zeebox / ISDN feel to it, huh. Wonder how old of a track it is? Certainly sounds like it was polished up a bit before release.

"Several years back" is pretty vague, isn't it?
Texturally noisy and percussive... I can't place it at all. There's a reverby sound in the background which really reminds me of something from the '90s, but the programming feels like something from the FSOLDigital era.

It sounds like something post-2007 to me. It would be nice to know more precisely and be able to relate it to the era of a specific album.

Yup - leaving it late this month!
Hello FSOL Calendar subscribers,

Hope everyones doing good...

June's calendar track is taken from a session using just a Yamaha Dx7. Found at the back of old cupboard it was extracted and experimented on...this track, recorded late 2018, is titled FSOL - Dusty DX (DX sessions)

Enjoy.
