The Resonance Association - Recursor

I have to recommend this EP to fellow FSOL fans, I'm sure most of you would love it.

Advance was always my favourite. It has an unique icecold metallic scifi-kind of atmosphere with lots of melody. Comparisons: early ae, reload/global communication, maybe some of the mid90ies AFX. Frequencies sounds a bit dated to me in some parts, and Sheath has some pretty serious beats going on but also very nice ambiences thrown in - not to mention the BASS that will blow your speakers all the way :)

Yeah its kind of a bad news this morning...

Flipping heck, if Enter The Void wasn't dark enough it's now tainted with reminding me of Mark Bell every time it starts :

The Orb - Cydonia

I was under the impression that The Orb released a couple of dodgy albums (this one and Bicycles)... but I'm about halfway through this and it sounds really good :)

I like Cydonia too - the expanded demo versions are very good.

Everything after Orblivion seems to split opinion, although for the most part tends to be considerably less popular than their early stuff. Cydonia has some decent stuff on, although only A Mile Long Lump of Lard really jumps out to me as being among their best stuff.
Bicycles & Tricycles is pretty messy, one of the least coherent albums I've ever heard to be honest. The Dream and Metallic Spheres also have their fair share of haters, for different reasons. But there are people who like them all so they're worth sticking with, you never know what'll appeal to you.

See if you can locate the 2xCD demo version of Cydonia, in my eyes (ears?) that's the definitive version of the album. Not quite sure why it got messed with so much before release.

I almost agree, only the version of '...Lard' I think is much improved on the final mix. Just has more intensity and generally more going on. Otherwise, the promo one actually holds together rather like an early Orb album, especially with its 'Adventures'-like structure. Must listen to it again at some point.

I might look for the demo version of Cydonia as well then.

The only Orb album I've heard beyond this, is Metallic Spheres, which I think is fantastic. I don't know if I can bring myself to get their latest album with Lee Scratch Perry though - I just don't like that dude's voice.

On Orbs archive compilation "Orbsessions Vol.2" are most of the scrapped Cydonia-promo tracks put together along with some unreleased material to what sounds like a very cohesive album to me. Not quite sure if it is still available.

The first two Orbsessions discs are the only Orb records I've never actually heard. Will probably have to hunt them down at some point.

np Aphex Twin - Syro
This still sounds fresh every time I hear it.
