I feel you tryptich, it's true what you say about Europe, and I'm in the worst part - South-East Europe,
BUT (there's always a But)

I was angry at the world until 3-4 years ago, then I realized things will not change in the near future.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love them to change and still do my part in some organizations that stand for what I generally call the Star Trek society - but at the same time I agree with Seedy - life's too short so I started working the system - beating them at their game while I do what I like/love without messing somebody elses life. It's not easy but it's doable...

In the end, just look at the system as something you need to beat at it's own game, not as something that might/should/would help you. Those days where the system helps you are far far ahead... It's not pretty but it's the truth.

On the other hand, there are bright spots even today. More and more companies like NextJump and Valve appear every day. Companies with little-to-none hierarchy, no clock on the working day, if you mess-up they send to new training instead of firing you - the list goes on - you get the point. So, try to start a company like that or work in one - because life IS too short

I don't know what's the situation there, but over here people are NOW FORCED to work for social security. That's right.. full-time time job for 9€ a DAY (which is funded by TAXPAYERS money). If you refuse, your benefits are cut to half. That's like 250€ in a month, in one of the most expensive countries in the world. You can live with that if you don't own internet, phone, buy new clothes etc. etc.

That's fucking slavery. We have the WORST government of all time.

my political views are quite radical (which I rarely discuss as it always ends in argument); I am generally incredibly angry about the current state of the world and try and raise awareness of a lot of stuff. At the same time, I try not to let it become a massive part of my life because I don't have the emotional strength to actually deal with it - so although I enjoy music with 'relevant' lyrics and themes, a lot of the time I prefer music that exists outside of that. Something that reminds me that there is still beauty and wonder in the world, regardless of who's gobbling up all the money and shitting on the environment.

I try to make this simple: over here, they're sacking professionals and "rehiring" them as "interns" so they don't have to pay a dime. Government (or rather the taxpayers) is paying the slave salary. If you refuse, you basically get jack shit.

We have the WORST neo-liberal robber barons in charge right now, and this guy (who sunk our whole economy for years)



is now in charge of the whole EU employment crap. The situation is getting intolerable and demonstrations are now happening once a month. Healthcare, education, police.. it's all being ran down. The whole infrastructure is getting privatized for corporate profits.

Class A assholes.

Yeah, very similar in the UK, only people who refuse to do 'workfare' (ie working for their welfare payment) get their income sanctioned entirely, not just halved. Our NHS - once the pride of Britain - is being sold off bit by bit. Our three major parties are almost indistinguishable in terms of policy, and there's a terrifying far-right party rising in popularity - largely aided by massive promotion from our state funded TV broadcaster (the BBC was once famed for its impartiality, yet now they feature said party, UKIP, at every opportunity: interviewing them, mentioning them on the news pretty much daily - whilst our only genuinely left-wing party, the Greens, get zero publicity at all, despite being statistically more popular than UKIP). All branches of the media are promoting the idea of 'benefits scroungers', to the extent people on crutches are being abused in the street and accused of faking their disabilities for money. The most popular tabloid paper have a terrifying 1984-style hotline to ring if you think anyone you know is committing benefit fraud. The number of disabled people who have committed suicide because they've had their welfare cut off unfairly is horrific.

That's just the tip of the iceberg really. This is the kind of thing I'm constantly trying to avoid, but yeah. Anyway, I'm currently listening to The Sensual World by Kate Bush.

Glad things here aren't so bad (yet). Although I do believe that there are a lot of people who corrupt the system and fake disabilities to never have to work again and live off of welfare. It's a big problem for sure, but honestly I don't worry about that.

What bothers me the most because it directly affects me is the absolutely worthless job market. There are so many people who WANT to work, who have a decent education and are young and fit, but are forced to do slavery or volunteering. I have made the decision to move to another town because here there are zero opportunities in the engineering/technology sector.

well this is kind of news to me. i'm aware that in general the world economy is depressed, but thought the Scandinavian countries were doing better than others.

in general it seems this world is just getting angrier and i guess at one point we'll reach a tipping point.
probably a whole bunch of ugliness that hopefully ends up with some level of resolve and a new way of thinking and living.
personally though i just try to not be angry and appreciate what i can. thankfully there are plenty of positive things part of life that the gov't and rich haven't figured how to take away just yet. things like the sky on a beautiful day

i'm sorry yall don't have george bush to blame. that makes the anger very easy to vent for the low level thinkers over here

What countries are we talking about guys ??
- The things you talk about sound scary.

To be blunt, I live in Skopje, Macedonia (south-east-europe as I said) - my family of 3 people (one of which is a baby) gets by on 550-650 euros per month - we could get by with less but you know - babies cost money
- Anyway, to find a job is almost impossible, but to find freelance projects is doable - so I do that when I need more per month than said sum.
- It happens once or twice a year to get some help from the parents, but nothing big.

The standards are low, some things are very expensive, but some aren't... Generally life is cheap but it gets less cheap every year...
Most people don't have 250 euros per month, but a fair amount get paid around 1000 euros per month.

Literally 30 hours ago my wife had a minor operation on the toe-nail (it got stuck in the flesh and made problems) - she paid literally 2,5 euros - the rest was health insurance - so I guess that part is OK over here...

edit: and yeah, everyone here thinks that things are 500 times better in the EU... but it seems they aren't...

I'm in Finland..

Basically the old system (which is the infamous Scandinavian system that really WAS good) is being destroyed by these globalist puppets, they're lowering the taxes for the rich, cutting the public services that really granted equal healthcare and education for everyone, helping corporations evading taxes etc. etc.. the list is endless.

It's all being ran down. Now we're just tossing money into the endless pit that we call the EU. I'm all for solidarity and helping other nations (THE PEOPLE), but the money goes straight into the private sector. What we're witnessing now, globally, is the biggest financial scam of all time. What we're left with is a smoking ruin of modern society while the perpetrators are fleeing the whole continent.

I simply have no words. I know that things are worse in many places but I'm just angry @this stupidity when people vote these leeches into power who basically wreck our whole economy. This is a disaster and the riots will only increase. Disappointing.

I notice a lot of people around Europe complaining about the EU - what's staggering is that almost all of the remotely decent laws in the UK come from Europe. Our government are trying to get us to pull out of the EU soon (with a "referendum" - i.e. the media will tow the government line and persuade the general public to vote that way as happens with all of ours), and with that will go almost all of our workers' rights, most of our environmental protection and the human rights bill (which our government are trying to scrap as it is). There are some people who still think Britain is some sort of decent, socialist nation, but we're heading towards being about as right wing as anywhere in the Western world.

People here complain about the failure of the European Union all the time as well. While there is definitely some truth to that, I don't see how ragequitting is gonna create more jobs. I'm starting to think perhaps there are simply too many people in this small country.
