BUT (there's always a But)
I was angry at the world until 3-4 years ago, then I realized things will not change in the near future.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love them to change and still do my part in some organizations that stand for what I generally call the Star Trek society - but at the same time I agree with Seedy - life's too short so I started working the system - beating them at their game while I do what I like/love without messing somebody elses life. It's not easy but it's doable...
In the end, just look at the system as something you need to beat at it's own game, not as something that might/should/would help you. Those days where the system helps you are far far ahead... It's not pretty but it's the truth.
On the other hand, there are bright spots even today. More and more companies like NextJump and Valve appear every day. Companies with little-to-none hierarchy, no clock on the working day, if you mess-up they send to new training instead of firing you - the list goes on - you get the point. So, try to start a company like that or work in one - because life IS too short
