Yeah Magma is great. Just ordered their recent 3 albums.
Their music has lovely parts in it, but it's a weird listen at first I admit. It's for the 'advanced' prog-listener I guess .
Just listening:"The Terror" - The Flaming Lips. This is just overwhelming me completely at the moment. An absolutely staggering record, the most impressive thing they did in my ears up to date. On this album they again sound like they never sounded before, although you clearly notice it's them. It's just incredible how they keep evolving, stay interesting but never lose their unique character.

flaming lips is a weird one for me
i liked yoshimi so i got soft bulletin....this one is ok
the albums that followed were ok
what's rubbed me the wrong way though is the DSOTM album and i don't think i can really enjoy this "heady fwiends" album as a whole
idk.....just feels like they try too hard sometimes or something?

Thing is, The Soft.Bulletin, Yoshimi and At War With the Mystics seem really odd in context of their discography. Three polished poppy albums in the middle of a huge load of whacked out fuzzy psychedelia. My favourite is Transmissions from the Satellite Heart. Although to be honest I haven't listened to them properly in a good while now.
Just listened to the second disc of Exai, and with the exception of runrepik, I'd say the whole thing is their most consistently listenable album since Draft. Almost no bad moments. I was ok with the fact that I wouldn't be wowed by one of their albums again, so this has come as a particularly welcome surprise.

Yep there's been quite a lot of Gaz & Brian's tracks throughout these sets - At times it's like listening to an old 92/93 FSOL Essential Mix as there loads of other tracks (like Global Communication) that they too seemed to chose in their mixes.

The Glimmer Room - The Wind Blows Summer from the Trees
Taking a break from the Essential Mixes and resumed collecting Solid Steel shows. Finding and listening through the 1993 - 1997 period and man so much experimental music! The 2 hour Coldcut mastermixes from '95 particularly and the '94 sessions with Mixmaster Morris are just bliss.
Made a discovery as well: "Gentlemen Hold It" by Yage was played on a Solid Steel show in 1997. There was no announcements or tracklistings on the show so I guess people would of thought it was a Coldcut track, unless a tracklist was printed somewhere back in the day. I can PM the mp3s to anyone who's interested, don't think I'll be allowed to post them on Soundcloud or Youtube..

Deadly Avenger: Blossoms & Blood
Downloaded this because of the We Took Pelham single with the FSOL remix (which was a bit disappointing, sry). Really awesome stuff with TONS of weird 60'-70's samples, reminds me of old Bond movies. Very similar vibes to Amorphous Androgynous.
How To Destroy Angels: Welcome Oblivion
Trent Reznors' (NIN) "new" band. I'm surprised how much I enjoyed this. It's a bit like Fragile-era NIN with female vocals. The guy just really knows how to write songs.

Eno - Fripp - Swastika Girls On Vinyl...
Heard this song on a very rainy day, when I skate my car and went backwards with two rollovers, song still played while i left the car in reverse and crushing my body, and shout to the wind that I was alive, and now i´m here, and still love this song,1 of my favourites songs from Eno-Fripp ,great combination.
