Listening to the new Thievery Corporation album Saudade,
very cool, very different, a true homage to the bossa nova style.

Ulrich Schnauss - A Long Way To Fall

Epic record. Ambient/Shoegaze/Postrock/Whatever with wonderful, lush walls of shiny synth sounds. Some great sense of melody in some tracks. Reminds me alot of Thomas Fehlmann's stuff without the dubby beats. Is anyone familiar with his older stuff? Is it similar like this one? Always knew him only from his Orb collab on 'Okie Dokie', seems I really missed out something.

Hm, I only know Schnauss's first album, which I quite enjoyed at the time, although it's not the sort of thing I listen to a lot. Sounds similar to your description.

Today...
The Rainbow Body - Free Sentient Beings
Hakobune/Sima Kim - Split tape
Babexo - Lonely Life in Neon Lights
Idlewild - Hope is Important
Roddy Woomble - Listen to Keep

Coincidentally, I just listened to Goodbye by Ulrich Schnauss for the first time a few days ago. I think A Long Way To Fall definitely has a darker edge to it than his earlier albums, but it is roughly along the same lines. I love all his stuff.

Can anyone here help me out? This is my favourite "electronica" album:

I've had it for a couple of years now, but know nothing about who Yggdrasil is, if they've done anything else, or if they ever will do anything more in the future...

Anyone on here got this album or heard of them?

I think Yggdrasil is/was some crazy German dude who worked in the 90s...
with some weird formats (cassettes mostly)

That might not be the same Yggdrasil, as this album was released in 2009 and I have it on CD. I suppose it could be the same though. I'll look in the booklet when I get home and see if there are any German-sounding names ;) Thanks.

EDIT:
Discogs sheds a bit of light on things:
http://www.discogs.com/artist/1651472-Yggdrasil-9

Producer duo from Sweden making psychedelic chill-out infused with instruments.
Yggdrasil was 'born' in the summer of 2004.

I'm pretty sure it just listed their album but without that info last time I looked. Still no sign of any other releases though, except for a track called Riddlefish, which isn't on the album. Maybe that at least hints that they might be working on new stuff.
