I've had it for a couple of years now, but know nothing about who Yggdrasil is, if they've done anything else, or if they ever will do anything more in the future...

Anyone on here got this album or heard of them?

^^ Just beat you to it, but thanks all the same :)

I just listened to their track Riddlefish on Bandcamp and it seemed nowhere near as good as the stuff on their album. Maybe I just had my expectations too high though.

I was a bit harsh on Riddlefish. It's actually pretty cool. Probably didn't help that I listened to it on my crappy work PC speakers earlier, but now I've given it a couple of listens on my home stereo. The remix is cool too and quite different :)

Ulrich Schnauss - Goodbye

Don't like this half as much as "Long Way". Too much vocals, tries a bit too hard to sound like every 'shoegaze'-band there was. Too much cheese overall, mostly vocally. Strangely this is what some critics said about his latest one, which I think is WAY more focused and sounds much more 'electronic' without cheesy vocals all the time.

Tycho - Awake

Ok, it's hipster shit, but I like it! Though the the tracks really all sound kind of the same...

Vangelis - Heaven&Hell, Albedo 0.39, Spiral

Believe it or not, first time for me to hear a Vangelis record. Or even 3 of them. (Not at once of course) Damn, how did I manage to miss out something great like this?? Especially H&H and Albedo are EPIC. Now its time to dive deeper into his discog. I heard some of his stuff from the 70ies veered into pretty avantgardistic terrain, will definitely lend an ear to this...

This last week has been a Steve Roach only week, kind of reminds me why I love his music so much. Now playing his Life Sequence.

I think that's a bit harsh, but yeah, I do wonder why he went so heavy on the vocals on that one. But to be fair, it does at least make it stand out from the previous two. I'm enjoying it quite a bit.

Haha. Oh God, I have actually known people like that. Mostly online, thankfully.

I wish people didn't try and justify one format as better than another, and just allow everyone to make their personal choices on how to enjoy music. I definitely prefer analogue formats, but because of how I interact with music, not some ridiculous attempt at saying one way is 'better' than the other. Similarly with collections. I've known so many people who will listen to music because of how 'essential' it is, rather than how much they actually enjoy it. I wonder at what point music stopped being about enjoying the music, and became a commodity-based lifestyle. It's sad.

lol, funny guy.

Sarcasm or not, many people actually still fool themselves into thinking that LP's sound better than digital.

My vinyl collection isn't really growing very fast anymore, this year so far just one addition :-/

np:
The Prodigy - Full Throttle

I think the problem in the whole thing lies with the word 'better'. I do have LPs which I prefer the sound of to CDs. For the most part, the difference is so subtle that you've got to be a hell of an audiophile to really tell, but there are differences. A lot of it does come from the 80s when digital recording was considerably more basic, and the tinny, flat digital sound people sometimes talk about was more obvious.

Now playing:
Inappropriate King Live - Datboonbaat

Yeah I see what you mean. And I agree completely, there is no such thing as better or worse when it comes to opinion. Similarly, for amplification some folk also prefer the sound of tubes, rather than transistors.

Personally I'm more into hearing the most neutral representation of the artist's music as possible, and from an objective scientific point of view, I'm certain that electrical engineers all around the world unanimously agree that can best be achieved with a digital source.

That, and perhaps more importantly, my turntable setup is pretty mediocre ;-)

Head Control System - Rapid Eye Movement
Murder Nature (2006)

Still secretly hoping for a new album one day... :(
