After a couple of listens (on Spotify), Archived 8 still isn't really growing on me... I think it has a very high weirdness/abstract factor and lacks musicality throughout. Despite there are tons of examples in my music library where exactly this is the case and I absolutely love it, it's not working for me here. There's lots of variety, but still no tracks really stand out. Oh well, back to some older FSOL then
I too have finally got this. Not to be unexpected, but I am totally into this; excellent! Never ceases to amaze me how prolific FSOL have been, even if this is reworked from the archives; sorry un-archived
Just love that last track especially. Oh and the first...etc
Ok I finally got the physical copy of the album. Still think it's a solid release but also still feel a bit underwhelmed compared to the trancendental epicness of E5, which is still my favourite post DC-release by the guys.
Where I work is a hot bed of TLAs (or FLAs in this case), it's difficult trying to decipher what anyone's on about at any given moment. In the grand scheme of things, I'm relatively young here, so perhaps everyone's subconsciously trying to get down wiv da yoot innit. More likely they're just colossal geeks.
BTW, having not commented on this thread so far on the album in question, I really like this album even if it does waver back in time towards the end. I actually like it possibly (whisper it) more than E5. I know, I'm a heathen, burn me at the stake... I still find the opening patter of drums a little odd though. Probably just me, but it's not what I'm used to.
