Blackhill Transmitter 3rd EP
Coming soon... very very soon...
OK OK, it comes out tomorrow [28.01.2015]
- there will be a promo video on YouTube - don't miss it.
- some background info for the fans:
The guy in the BlackHill video on YouTube is Bill Dougans (Brian's dad). Recording from 1956 - setting up (in sight mast) - part of when he worked at BlackHill.
BlackHill was/is a TV/radio (and now HD) transmission mast for the south of Scotland - Bill, amongst a few other, was tasked with setting it up and getting it working.
Bill Dougans died in 2013 (aged 84), when the Blackhill Transmitter series started, so in a way BlackHill is a homage to him.
BlackHill also uses recordings made by Bill.
The drums on BlackHill are live - played by Brian Dougans in his basement - so it turns out he's a pretty good drummer too, knowing a thing or two about the jazzy side - especially on that last track

Re: Blackhill Transmitter 3rd EP
The Blackhill Transmitter project has got to be the most well-realised of all the solo/side-project releases on FSOLDigital, just really great overall. When the t-shirt appeared I was hoping for a physical release of some of this. This is the highlight of the series so far...
Oh and the drums on the last track aren't by Brian - an old friend from the '80s, apparently.

Really interesting stuff, especially loved the outro. Thanks for sharing!
Re: Blackhill Transmitter 3rd EP
I like this, and feel I need to play each EP back to back now. This one somehow sounds a little more like the first EP than the second, it's got a more electronic feel to it than the second, though kind of has a few elements of the second on it. Good to see this project has legs. Might have to get one of the blackhill transmitter t-shirts, even if it turns out to be a bit of a crop top on me.

Re: Blackhill Transmitter 3rd EP
I thought part-sub-merged was introspective - but this one is even better.
The three EPs could easily form a 54 minute album...

Re: Blackhill Transmitter 3rd EP
Yeah, of all the side projects I'd love to get a wider release, I'd have to say this is at the top of my list. I prefer this to The Woodlands of Old, I think.
Re: Blackhill Transmitter 3rd EP
Thought I'd get this (and the 2nd one as I actually had a little bit of money left over in my bank this month!) and good job you get 5 downloads cos ....
